Irrational use of antibiotics in self-medication often occurs in various groups, including students. Inappropriate use of antibiotics and self-medication can threaten health, such as unwanted drug reactions, risk of drug side effects, and antibiotic resistance. As future professional nurses, nursing students should be concerned about implementing rational self-medication before applying it to their patients. This descriptive study aims to identify the use of antibiotics among nursing students. Therefore, suitable implementation of self-medication is required. The sample in this study was the final year students of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran, recruited by purposive sampling technique, resulting in 188 students. The data were obtained quantitatively using google Forms. Then, the collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis (frequency, percentage, average). The results showed the attitude of nursing students in self-medication using antibiotics. The majority of respondents used antibiotics when prescribed (88%), and more than half of respondents used antibiotics that had been prescribed (69%). The findings of this study can be used as primary data for further research related to the factors that influence students not to take antibiotics that have been prescribed to control the number of antibiotic resistance.References
